Akwa United’s head coach, Umar Abdullahi, has lauded his team’s performance following their 3-1 victory against Bendel Insurance.
Abdullahi emphasized the importance of replicating their home form in away matches to regain lost points. “This is a big win for us, it’s a morale booster because winning two straight home games and scoring three goals in each of those matches shows that there is something we are doing right,” Abdullahi told the club’s media.
Ubong Friday’s brace, along with Sani Sulaiman’s goal, secured the win for the Promise Keepers, with Zaidu Ayuba scoring the consolation goal for Bendel Insurance.
Abdullahi expressed satisfaction with his team’s attacking prowess and emphasized the need to improve their away form to climb the league table. “Our major target now is on how to continue with this kind of mentality especially in the remaining away matches,” he added.
He credited the home support and highlighted the determination of his players in achieving success. “My players gave their all, they played for each other and our attacking football paid off and that is how we got the desired result.”
