Coach Aliyu Zubair has praised his Wikki Tourists players for their attitude in successfully defeating Rivers United in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 11 on Sunday.
The Bauchi side won 2-0 at the Pantami Stadium to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs, thanks to goals from Abba Umar and Adeshina Issa Gata.
The Giant Elephants had good value for the result, much to the delight of their Coach.
“We showed our lionhearts in this match. My compliments to the team but also to the fans,” Aliyu Zubair told Footballlive.ng.
“I have not doubted our playing style for a moment. We want to continue winning. We will have to play another match like this one here.
“I think Rivers United proved they could win this match, but I think it was due to our game that they could not get more out of it. I think we did good things when we took the ball from them.
“We always want to play, which is offensive football. You have to be focused from the first second.
“I think we put so much pressure on them that they could not play in their usual way. They are used to playing their style, but they lost a lot of the ball in midfield and they had to depend on counterattacks.”
Wikki Tourists are sixth on the Group A ladder with 12 points.
