RSC Anderlecht coach, Hein Vanhaezebrouck has stated categorically that comeback striker, Henry Onyekuru will be fit enough to star for Nigeria at this year’s World Cup.
Though the Anderlecht gaffer hinted that Onyekuru might not still get his comeback game against Standard Liegetomorrow, Vanhaezebrouck said the lad on loan from Everton of England will definitely be ready for the Super Eagles’ campaign at Russia 2018.
Onyekuru has made only one appearance for the Eagles, against Togo in an international friendly last June in which he lasted 32 minutes on the Stade des Diablots turf.
The Anderlecht manager is optimistic that Onyekuru will be fit for the World Cup, but admits it would be up to Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to name him in Nigeria’s squad list.
Speaking on the fitness of Onyekuru and Senegal defender Kara Mbodji, Vanhaezebrouck said: ”We evaluate their situation daily, but those injuries were pretty serious and so the recovery requires some time.

“Kara is making good progress, but we are not going to take any risks with the World Cup in mind.
”Playing for Anderlecht may not be feasible this season, but being fit for the World Cup is possible. That also applies to Onyekuru.”
