Startling information out of England indicates that the ongoing summer transfer revolving round Royal Excel Mouscron of Belgium striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has reached the desk of Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp.
Awoniyi is currently on loan at Mouscron from Liverpool, who have sent him to three other clubs before now, but footballlive.ng learnt that Schalke 04 of Germany are putting pressure on The Reds for a full deal.
Considering that Klopp is German, and had worked previously in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, Schalke are now trying to use that connection to snatch Awoniyi away from the Merseyside club.
Awnoyi has never played for Liverpool, at either youth or senior team levels, as he was loaned first to SV Frankfurt of Germany then to NEC Nijmegen of Holland and then last season to Mouscron, then fellow-Belgian club, KAA Gent for the first half of the current term.
After enduring a difficult start to the season at Gent, Awoniyi returned to Mouscron in January, and has since rediscovered his form, leaving the 21-year-old striker open as a prime summer transfer prospect.
With the former youth international now in fiery form, with six goals in seven matches this year and six straight appearances in Belgian league team of the week, Schalke have strong interest in signing him.
To make their efforts see the light of day, the German Bundesliga outfit have reportedly contacted Klopp directly to ask him about their chances of Awoniyi in a full transfer this summer.
The striker, who moved to the Merseyside in 2015 is yet to play for the Anfield outfit due to his inability to secure a UK work permit, but he is valued at around £10m, which Schalke are even ready to top to get him.
