Dennerby Fears USA, Sweden As WWC 2019 Opponents

Date:

Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons coach, Thomas Dennerby has confessed that the two counties he fears most as FIFA Women World Cup opponents are USA and Sweden.

Footballlive.ng reports that Dennerby noted that Nigeria has often come across by countries in past editions of the Female Mundial, and stated pointedly that it would be tough playing against them again at France 2019.

The Swedish tactician said before the France 2019 draw on Saturday, that he would not love the Falcons to play against his country and the Americans in the early stages of next year’s female global soccer spectacle.

Dennerby pointed out that Nigeria and USA have met four times in the group stage of previous Women World Cups, with the Falcons losing all and conceding 14 goals, but he failed to note that they have only lost once to Sweden in three previous fixtures, 15 years ago.

Dennerby retorted: ”I know that USA, Nigeria and Sweden, used to play in the same group, I think it was almost three times in a row before now.

”It will be fun to play other teams than the same, all the time. I hope we can have other teams and for the fact that it is now 24 teams, there is little chance we will have them this time around.

”I think there are teams in each pot we really have a good opportunity to beat and I hope with good preparation, we can definitely have a chance to come to the knockout stages.”
