The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has fined Enyimba International FC and imposed several penalties following their Match Day 35 fixture against Rangers International FC at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, on June 9, 2024.
Enyimba has been fined for multiple breaches, including failing to ensure proper conduct, disrupting a live broadcast, throwing objects onto the field, and encroaching onto the field of play.
The NPFL also penalized the team for refusing to continue the match in protest against a penalty decision and causing the match’s disruption and discontinuation.
The sanctions imposed on Enyimba include:
- A 1 million naira fine for improper conduct.
- A 5 million naira fine for disrupting a live broadcast.
- A 1 million naira fine for throwing objects onto the field.
- A 1 million naira fine for field encroachment.
- Forfeiture of 3 points and 3 goals to Rangers International FC.
- A 2 million naira fine for causing match disruption.
Enyimba has 48 hours to accept the sanctions or appeal to a disciplinary panel. If they accept, fines must be paid within seven working days. Further sanctions may apply if an appeal is unsuccessful.
