Etafia Suggests Better Organization for NPL

Date:

Former Nigerian international, Greg Etafia has said that there has to be better organization with the Nigerian premier league. Etafia was addressing the case of Enyimba and Doma United, a game that already saw Enyimba pay a fine and suffer a stadium ban, only for a review to bring new setbacks to the club months after the incident.

Etafia said Enyimba are in a delicate position, and a point deduction, however small could damage a lot in the long run. He then pleaded that the league hierachy resolve the situation before the season ends, to avoid dragging it further.

In his exact words, Etafia said:

“At the end of the game, if the game is finished and the ref blows final whistle, it’s over. I think that’s the end of the game. But if the game is not finished and maybe they have some struggle and they went to the FA or to the federation, they have reviewed and depends on the reports and the match commissioner and whatever happened in the game”.

“But if all those issues, two months back and they sort all this issue and there’s a fine in it, and the club have paid the fine and the matter has been resolved. There’s no way you can revisit that issue again. As far as that fine is already there, and you’ve already sanctioned that club in terms of whatever you want them to pay and whatever discipline you want to discipline them”.

“Because you remember now, Enyimba are third position, they have about 53 points, the same point with Remo Stars. But now, if you take that point out from them not, that one point can make a difference because you have Enugu Rangers on 57 points, one game and you can catch up. So Enyimba will be very annoyed in terms of that one point, because you’re looking for champions league sports and Remo stars they are head-to-head”.

“This is another issue that you can bring on the loophole in terms of the league. Because when you revisit this issue now, and maybe the issue isn’t sorted out at this moment, maybe end of the season, that point is needed to be in the Champions League or something, it would be a big issue again. So that’s why everything needs to be organized, everything needs to be dealt with at that moment”.
