Stoke City midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo has received another shower of accolades, following his brilliant performance last weekend, with his coach, Nathan Jones now joining the spray of superlatives on the star.
Footballlive.ng can report that Jones has tagged Etebo a ‘proper, proper’ player, following the Super Eagles’ star’s stunning performance that went a long way in helping The Potters return to winning ways.
Etebo, who has 25 appearances for Stoke in the English Championship since his arrival from CD Feriense of Portugal last summer, has helped his side keep eight clean sheets and has a goal to show for his efforts.
The Warri Wolves of Delta State product will now hope to continue his top form this weekend against Queens Park Rangers, ahead of which Jones believes there is more to come from Etebo.
Following the 23-year-old midfielder’s brilliant show on Saturday, in which he got his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, Jones admitted he was excited to see Etebo help his side end a six-game winless run.
The Welsh tactician is full of awe for the energetic midfielder, who was one of Nigeria’s best performers at last year’s World Cup in Russia, and confessed that he is pleased with Etebo’s consistency and attributes.
Jones added: “I’ve been delighted with him and there’s far more to come because I think he can be even better when he gets into the final third.
“I think he can be even better with his passing and he’ll get fitter. He’s an exciting player for us.
“His work-rate, his character, his technical ability and what he does is high level.
“When you first see him you don’t necessarily see what he’s got but then you see him in games and he’s a real game player.
“It’s clear that he’s not a training ground international, he’s a proper, proper player.”
