Ex-International Speaks on Cyber Bullying

Date:

Former Nigerian international, Christian Obodo has implored nigerians to stop scapegoating people. This comes after Sadiq Umar became a victim of cyber bullying in the past hours. Sadiq Umar went on Instagram to make a statement saying he will be forced to respond to some of the claims thrown at him.

Obodo mentioned that people can’t take things the same that the act was an embarrassing as these players also have families. He also said that it’s an embarrassing act and it should be curtailed. He implored africans at large to do better and appreciate our own people who serve.

In his exact words, Obodo said:

“I don’t think it’s unnecessary but we know Nigeria. If we don’t get it right, we usually look for a scapegoat. We have a thing that is uncalled for, we bring their private life into the public space. Dragging someone like that into this kind of thing, you should understand that you’re embarrassing them over the world. They have family too. The way i can take it is not how other people will take it.

We need to improve in that aspect. We need to welcome them and congratulate them, we played against the host country.

We need to think about both sides, not just nigeria but Africa in general. We need to stop scapegoating people”.

“As for players, they should try not to reply these people, it’s unnecessary. They should just focus on themselves, fighting for their jersey and making things happen. Social media is just unnecessary and it’s bad for fans to do such”.
