Nigeria U20 girls, the Falconets, remain confident ahead of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup draw in Bogotá, Colombia. Coach Chris Musa Danjuma has assured fans that the team is ready to face any opponent as they prepare for the tournament, which will feature 24 teams for the first time.
“We have no fear about any of the teams in the finals. Any team can be in our group. We know that to be the best, we have to beat the best,” said Danjuma, who led the team to the quarter-finals in the last edition in Costa Rica.
The 24 teams will be drawn into six groups of four. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages.
The Falconets’ placement in Pot 2 means they will avoid strong teams like Brazil, USA, and the Netherlands in the group stage. The draw will determine their opponents from the other pots, with Africa represented by Nigeria, Morocco, Cameroon, and Ghana.
Coach Danjuma’s confidence highlights the team’s readiness to take on the world’s best, aiming to surpass their previous quarter-final finish and potentially clinch the title.
“We know that to be the best, we have to beat the best,” Danjuma reiterated, showing his team’s determination and readiness for the challenges ahead.
