Manchester City youth team player, Felix Nmecha got the goal that gave his side their first trophy of the season, and set the stage for their senior squad to wrap up four straight titles, footballlive.ng reports.
The Citizens’ main team will be back in FA Cup action this weekend, as they seek to add to the Carabao Cup conquest they achieved few weeks back, and they now have the best form of motivation from Nmecha.
While City’s first team will play to avoid a repeat of last season’s shock loss to Wigan Athletic, when they play away to Swansea City on Saturday, Nmecha and three other Nigerian-born players in their youth squad are already celebrating winning the U18 Premier League Cup.
Nmecha and his colleagues were crowned champions after a 1-0 win in a decisive tie against Middlesbrough, as they overcame all odds of playing away at The Riverside on Thursday evening.
Nmecha and Olympic Eagles’ prospect, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru both started, while Gavin Bazunu and Timilehin Sobowale were on the bench, as the first of the lot struck a second half winner with a strike from a tight angle.
