Fidelis Ilechukwu Rues Missed Opportunities in Draw with Kano Pillars, Eyes Redemption Against Lobi Stars

Date:

Fidelis Ilechukwu, the coach of Rangers International, has attributed his team’s failure to secure victory in the 1-1 draw against Kano Pillars to missed scoring opportunities. Despite picking up a valuable point in the Match Day 25 NPFL fixture at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, Ilechukwu expressed disappointment at his players’ inability to capitalize on their chances.

The Flying Antelopes managed to hold Kano Pillars to a draw, but Ilechukwu emphasized that with more clinical finishing, they could have emerged victorious against a formidable opponent. He noted that several key players were left out of the squad to allow them to recuperate from the strains of consecutive matches.

“It was a great game we had and could have easily won against a great side with a very respectable tactician but for some poor finishing. We came here with over six of my regulars left back at home to help them recover from the stress of accumulated games.”

Looking ahead, Ilechukwu expressed confidence in his team’s ability to build on the result as they prepare for a crucial encounter with Lobi Stars in Enugu. He highlighted the significance of maintaining momentum and optimism for a positive finish to the season.

“We hope to build on this result in our next game at home against league leaders, Lobi Stars to keep hope alive on a positive finish to the season.”

Rangers currently occupy the third position on the league table, amassing 42 points from 25 matches. They trail behind Lobi Stars and Plateau United, who are on 46 and 44 points respectively. With their sights set on redemption, Rangers are gearing up to host Lobi Stars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, on Sunday, March 17.
