The Golden Eaglets have commenced preparations for the upcoming 2024 WAFU B U-17 Championship with an open training camp in Abuja.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the appointment of Manu Garba as the head coach of the team, signaling a new chapter in their quest for success.
Fifty-one players have been invited to the training camp, marking the initial phase of the team’s preparation for the tournament.
However, the squad is expected to be trimmed down before the commencement of the competition, which is set to be hosted by Ghana and is scheduled to kick off on May 17th.
The Golden Eaglets enter the tournament as defending champions, having clinched victory in the sub-regional final against Burkina Faso two years ago, also in Ghana.
With their sights set on retaining the title, the team aims to showcase their talent and determination on the field once again.
Moreover, the WAFU Championship serves as a crucial pathway for qualification to the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, adding further significance to the upcoming tournament for the Golden Eaglets.
As they embark on their journey, the team remains focused on their ultimate goal of securing success on both the regional and continental stages of youth football.
