Amkar Perm of Russia defender, Brian Idowu has added an extra touch of motivation that would spurred him to top performances with the Super Eagles, should he get to make the final squad to this year’s World Cup in Russia.
Idowu, who was born in Russia, further said it would be an extra bonus to play in front of his family and friends.
With that in view, Idowu believes the motivation he would get from being at ‘home’ during the World Cup could rub off on the other Nigerian players and spur the Eagles to glory.
The left-back, who only recently acquired his Nigerian international passport, sees his Russian nationality as an additional boost to the Eagles, as it would also mean some of the host country’s fans would be rooting for Nigeria during their matches.
“Playing in Russia will be an additional bonus because I will play in front of my friends and parents,” Idowu enthused.
