Ikorodu City FC successfully defended their Lagos State Federation Cup title with a resounding 2-0 victory over Inter Lagos FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
Maintaining their outstanding form throughout the season, Ikorodu City asserted their dominance early on, with Harisson Uzondu Austin’s 27th-minute header setting the pace for their triumph.
The lead was further solidified by Oyedokun Tosin’s penalty spot conversion in the 58th minute, sealing the victory for Ikorodu City.
As champions, Ikorodu City was awarded a prize money of N500,000, while Inter Lagos received a walk away price of N300,000 as the runner ups.
Looking ahead, Coach Bright Ozegbagbei expressed the team’s commitment to securing an NPFL ticket and advancing in the FA Cup. In a post-match interview Coach Bright expressed gratitude for the team’s success and emphasized the importance of hard work in maintaining their dominance.
“It was a mirror for the league. We knew it was going to be difficult. We really respect Inter Lagos. But again, we had to do what we needed to do, and we thank God it worked for us,”
