Former Nigeria international Chikelue Iloenyosi has expressed that he is happy that former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro would no longer be in charge of the team anymore.
He noted that whoever replaces the Portuguese has to reside in the country and be able to monitor the league; scout the best talents.
“I’m so happy that Peseiro is leaving the Super Eagles because we need a coach that has a passion who believes in the home based team,” Iloenyosi told BRL.
“Peseiro does not want to stay in Nigeria, to have a creative team of home-based Eagles. So any coach who cannot live in Nigeria for me is not viable enough for us. I’m happy that he’s leaving.”
Technical director, Austin Eguavoen has been linked with the job on an interim basis, however, Emmanuel Amunike has also been linked to take over the reigns on a permanent basis.
It is still unclear if Jose Peseiro would be recalled by the NFF as his contract only ended and not that he resigned.
