Injury May Knock Sadiq Umar Out Of Eagles’ List

Date:

NAC Breda of Holland striker, Sadiq Umar has surprisingly joined the growing ranks of highly rated Nigerian players that are facing injury woes heading into the World Cup.

A recent burst of scoring form had lined the Rio 2016 Olympics revelation up for a gate-crashing surge into the Eagles’ final list to Russia 2018, but latest reports indicate that he is now facing fitness issues.

Information in this direction has been provided by Umar’s coach at Breda, Stijn Vreven, who says the lanky forward, on loan from AS Roma, is presently playing with an injury.
The coach hinted that the issue has caused Umar to be sparingly used, with a combined total of 25 minutes in their last two games, in which he got off the bench, as opposed to previous games when he started.

Vreven said the 21-year-old has been using pain killers to subject the effect of the pain of the injury he is currently nursing as they approach the business end of the season with relegation starting them in the face.

”Sadiq is not fully fit. The last game he scored for us against Sparta he had to take injections to play in that game and that was why he was introduced for the last 15 minutes of the game.

”We are taking our time with him because he is very important to our ambition of beating the drop.

“In the last game, he played for just five minutes despite not training at all in the build up to the game,” Vreven disclosed.
