Arsenal of England attacker, Alex Iwobi has earned soothing words from Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, who says the dazzler could not put up a reflection of his recent top form for club and country because he got tired in Johannesburg, South Africa.
While footballlive.ng reports that many Nigerian fans are scolding Iwobi for failing to replicate his recent from in the 1-1 draw away to Bafana Bafana, Rohr says the youngster gave his best but fatigued then slowed him down.
However, the Franco-German gaffer expatiated that it was not only Iwobi who got tired, as he acknowledged that the heat in Johannesburg affected his players, who had also earlier admitted jet lag from their long flight from Asaba.
Rohr explained: “Iwobi was also tired and Ajayi came in to protect the result for us. In our next game we will try some players who didn’t get to play and also those who didn’t make the bench.
“When you play the 3-5-2 formation you have your front two running all game and they get tired most times, so we have to take them off and introduce players who can offer us same upfront.”
