Former Super Eagles striker, Stephen Ayoddele Makinwa (Tiger of Lagos) has revealed that he still manages to keep his shape fit and trim simply because he does regular workout in the gym.
Aside visiting the gym, footballlive.ng learnt that Makinwa, who is now a footballers’ representative based in Rome, Italy, also ensures he takes time out home for fitness drills.
The native of Ile-Oluji in Ondo State, who scored on his Nigeria debut against South Africa in the 2004 Nelson Mandela Challenge, then went on to gain 14 caps, is the agent of Eddy Ogenyi Onazi, Stanley Amuzie, Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo, Blessing Eleke, Musa Mohammed, Ezekiel Henty, among many others.
He played for Nigeria in the 2006 and 2008 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, but his national team days were cut short by a nagging injury.
Though he is now fast approaching 36, Makinwa (born 26 July 1983) is still looking like an active player, which has left many of his close acquaintances and fans wondering why he is not still in the game.
However, the only Nigerian to have played for ten different clubs in Italy has now disclosed that he keeps fit daily as a routine.
Makinwa revealed as much on social media, as he unfolded secrets of why he does not have a pot belly after retiring from soccer three years ago, stating categorically that he still loves morning training.
He posted: “1 day to fitness #keepingfit #morningtraining #makozgroup — in Rome, Italy.”
