Former Nigerian international, Sunday Mba has acknowledged that it is normal for fans to be nervous. Mba was reacting towards reports that fans are nervous ahead of Nigeria’s crunch clash against South Africa, taking place on friday.
The 35 year old highlighted that it is a new coach taking over, and there has been news of players not arriving early is not helping a lot.
“The way the situation is around the camp, it’s valid for people to be afraid. Because it’s a new coach as well, so it’s very normal. And it’s South Africa, a team we have rivalry with, just like Ghana”, said Mba.
He further spoke on the rivalry between Nigeria and South Africa, adding that South Africa are under more pressure based on the last meeting between both nations at the AFCON.
“The players need to realize the intensity of the rivalry and come together, we can defeat them. The players need to know that there will be a lot of talk if we don’t win, so they need to come together. The game is important, they (South Africa) are more under pressure because of our last meeting. We just need to come together and get it done”, Mba explained.
