The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has categorically denied reports suggesting that Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has been banned from the national team due to a recent social media outburst.
In a statement released on Wednesday, NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi described these reports as outright falsehoods.
“The Federation has neither instructed a process nor concluded any process to ban the player from the National Team,” he stated.
The NFF urged the media to work collaboratively with the football-governing body to address and resolve issues constructively.
Sanusi spoke on the importance of focusing on the broader goals, such as the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers and the remaining matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.
“There was no official communication from the NFF regarding a ban on Osimhen,” Sanusi reiterated. “Spreading such falsehoods only serves to needlessly escalate matters and pollute the public discourse. Our current priority is to resolve all issues surrounding the Super Eagles and move forward with confidence.”
