Argentina’s former national team coach, Alfio Basile has given a technical exposé on what he believes his side can do to gain victory against Nigeria on Tuesday, as he says the Super Eagles’ weak point is their defence.
Basile, who masterminded Argentina’s 2-1 win over the Eagles at USA ‘94 World Cup, despite Samson Siasia giving the Nigeria an early lead in the eighth minute, advised that La Albiceleste should ensure they mount constant pressure on the Eagles’ defence and he believes their arch rivals will cave in.
He further opined that Lionel Messi would be the one to play a key part in ensuring Argentina exploit Nigeria’s weaknesses to ensure victory for his country in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
He, however, went on to warn that the Eagles have a fiery attack, which can wreck any carelessness of the part of their opponents, as was seen on Friday against Iceland in their second group game.
”The Nigerians are offensively good, but the defenders are very distracted. If the ten is good, we can beat anybody, if Messi is not there, we are a team,” Basile submitted.
