Nwabali Relives Peseiro’s Crucial Visit

Date:

Nigerian goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has relived the visit of Coach Jose Peseiro to South Africa to see him as regards a call up to the super eagles. He mentioned that he did not feel any form of pressure when Coach Jose Peseiro came to see him to watch him play in South Africa. He said that he was indulged by his trainer to just be natural, and he said it was all fine and good.

He also mentioned that the game was a 2-0 win for his side and the coach commended his performance in that game, highlighting his communication with his teammates. Nwabali also added that he was not 100% certain he would make the national team even after the coach came around.

In his exact words, Nwabali said:

“I have two things, I have two things on my mind when he’s coming. And I said to him, when we had a chat in his hotel, when I heard that Coach Peseiro is coming, one thing I said to myself is that his coming can never change my pattern of play. So when Coach Peseiro came to South Africa to watch, Only what my training partner said to me, he only said: I should just be myself”.

“Myself, I’m not worried about anything he said fine and good. I should play my football and to be really honest that game he came to watch was one of my best games in South Africa. Both play with my feet, both confident, everything because at the end I remember one 2-0 at home, one of the biggest teams, we won 2-0. After the game, he said we’re going to see”.

“When I went to talk to him, he said, good game, like good communication with your players, you sound like you act like a leader. I smiled over it. He said, I like the way you handle the team, and I like the way you play with your feet and everything. I said to him, the coach, that I’m not worried about you coming here to see me or the team, but I’m worried about what I’m going to contribute when i have this opportunity”.

“He said fine and good, I should just stay without injury and just keep fit. That is the only discussion I had with him. To be honest, When he came to South Africa, I’m not 100% that I’m going to come to national team”.
