Super Falcons co-captain Onome Ebi has been left amazed and grateful at being shortlist in the 15-man list for the 2018 Women’s African player of the year alongside fellow Falcons stars such as Desire Oparanozie, four time winner Asisat Oshoala and Francisca Ordega.
The HENAN FC of China defender who has been a solid rock for the Falcons at 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations became emotional after her name made the list and took to her Instagram handle to share her story. “Two years ago I thought I wouldn’t be able to play again after an injury that kept me out of the game for a year.
I am just so grateful to have been shortlisted for the CAF Women’s African Footballer of the year award for 2018. Honored to be recognized and I thank God and my awesome teammates because without God none of this would have been possible.”
The 35 year old star also has some words of advice for those facing challenges and considering the option of quitting. “Always believe you can achieve anything.”
Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo and Nigerian 100 meters Olympic star Seye Ogunlewe have joined hundreds of football fans in celebrating Ebi’s achievement.
