Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr is bound to be hit with a wave of withdrawals by a handful of players he has invited for this month’s matches against Seychelles and Egypt.

This is based on feelers reaching footballlive.ng from the secretariat of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), as highly reliable sources hinted that a stand-by list of late invitees is already being prepared.

It was gathered that reports over the weekend about a spate of injuries to many of the players that had been included in Rohr’s list early last week is the starting point of worries among officials.

A top source affirmed that some players whop were not named in Rohr’s list that was made public on Monday may still end up getting spots in the team to battle Seychelles on March 22 and face Egypt four days later, both at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

With the like of Oghenekaro Etebo at Stoke City of England and Ola Aina from AS Torino of Italy haven bowed to knocks on the weekend, the possibility of them turning up at the Eagles’ camp is in doubt.

Same goes for a number of the lads that recently overcame injuries, but need to tie down spots in their teams before heading out for long flights to meet up with national team duty.
In this category stand Leon Aderemi Balogun at Brioghton of England and Shehu Abdullahi at Bursaspor of Turkey, while Anothorsis Famagusta of Cyprus goalkeeper, Francis Odinaka Uzoho is yet to get over a recent bad case of playing under falsified documents that hit him at his new base.

A credible source told footballlive.ng on Tuesday: “The way it is, even Rohr is worried that many of the invited players for the matches against Seychelles and Egypt might end up pulling out.

“Some of them are injured, others just recovering from injuries and other facing one issue or the other that they want to overcome at their various clubs; all of which mean we must be ready to do without them.”
