Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has declared that Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba is not yet ready to host his team’s forthcoming international friendly match against Uganda.
With the match now just a week away, Rohr undertook an inspection of facilities at the arena and footballllive.ng gathered that he left with a verdict that more work still has to be done in certain areas.
However, the Franco-German gaffer stopped short of declaring the Delta State-owned edifice incapable of hosting next Tuesday’s game, as he reckoned that the stadium management can still finalise work to put everything right before then.
Although Rohr admitted he felt some misgivings over certain areas of need at the arena, the gaffer added that he is hopeful that the venue would be ready to host the friendly.
The former Gabon, Niger Republic and Burkina Faso handler pointed out that the government of Delta State has promised to put final touches to upgrading the main pitch.
While also praising the groundsmen for the work they have done so far on the pitch and other facilities, Rohr said he wants it all to be fully in shape and completed before the game on Tuesday.
“They are working hard on making the Stadium ready for the friendly match. With what I have seen so far they have done a good job already.
“They still need to put final touches on the main pitch to make it ready. I believe it will be okay,” Rohr concluded.
