Super Eagles’ technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has declared that he will be relying on an array of versatile players to fill into midfield positions for upcoming matches against South Africa and Uganda.
In the wake of his latest list of invitees, which has only three players classified as midfielders, footballlive.ng can report that the Franco-German gaffer explained that it is only because there are a handful among them who can play several positions adequately.
Consequently, Rohr has quashed worries by observers over lack of options after he invited only John Ugochukwu Ogu, Mikel Ndubuisi Agu and Oghenekaro for the November matches.
Rather than feel vulnerable by the development, Rohr stated further that Semi Ajayi can fill in as a holding midfielder, while Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho can both play in advanced midfield roles.
Rohr declared: “We have four defensive midfielders. Etebo, Mikel Agu, John Ogu and Semi Ajayi.
“Additionally, while Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho are listed as forwards, both can play in the advanced midfield role.”
