Second vice-president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Shehu Dikko was at the head of delegation of few Super Eagles’ players, coaches and officials that return home on Thursday, following the team’s ouster from the World Cup in Russia.
While many of the players opted to move direct to their various bases in Europe and some top shots of the NFF stayed back for other World Cup duties, Dikko stepped in as leader of the delegation back home.
After exiting the ongoing FIFA World Cup here in Russia on Tuesday night with the 2-1 loss to Argentina, Dikko left Russia with some players, staff and crew of the Eagles, with a plan to touch down in Nigeria on Thursday.
Dikko left Moscow for Lagos with the others on Wednesday morning via Dubai on an Air Emirates flight, in company with some Nigerian top sports officials.
However, it was not all 23 players that were in Russia for the Mundial who headed back to Nigeria, as most of the Europe-based stars left to join their families on vacations before heading to pre-season training with their clubs.
