Trabzonspor’s Uncertainty Over Paul Onuachu’s Future

Date:

Trabzonspor are currently facing uncertainty regarding the future of Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu, who has been on loan from Southampton since last summer. Despite Onuachu’s impressive performances for the Turkish club, his permanent stay is in jeopardy due to Southampton’s high transfer demands.

Onuachu, who had struggled to make an impact in the Premier League following his move from Genk, found success in Turkey, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in seventeen appearances for Trabzonspor. His contributions have made him an integral part of the team.

However, negotiations for Onuachu’s permanent transfer have stalled as Southampton is reportedly demanding a transfer fee exceeding 10 million Euros, as reported by Fanatik. This hefty price tag has forced Trabzonspor to consider alternative options to strengthen their attacking lineup.

As a result, Trabzonspor are now eyeing Hector Hernandez, a 29-year-old Spanish striker currently playing for Portuguese side GD Chaves. Hernandez has been in fine form this season, scoring 13 goals in 25 Liga Portugal matches.

While Onuachu remains under contract with Southampton until the end of the 2025-2026 season, Trabzonspor face a decision on whether to meet Southampton’s demands or pursue other targets like Hernandez to bolster their squad for the upcoming campaigns.
