Elche of Spain goalkeeper, Francis Odinaka Uzoho has set an early pace in training with the Super Eagles, and is already rated ahead of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi for Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
During training sessions monitored by footballlive.ng, Uzoho appeared to shine best of the lot when taken through the opening drills by the Eagles goalkeepers’ trainers, Enricho Pionetti and Alloy Agu.
Uzoho was taken through the paces by Pionetti and Agu, during which he appeared more composed than Ezenwa and Akpeyi at the training pitch of the match venue, Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
All three were taken through tactical awareness, ball handling, crosses, communication, defence organisation and reflexes at one-on-one spots.
Uzoho looked to retain his position as first choice keeper in Saturday’s game with a commanding performance, while Ezenwa appears to be cautious over the recent injury he copped in action with his club.
Ezenwa was beaten more often that the other two, but his reflexes and shot stopping abilities were still remarkable, while Akpeyi looked sharp during shooting practice but showed poor confidence under pressure.
