Super falcons manager, Randy Waldrum has suggested that Christy Uchiebe could fill in defence for the team. The Benfica Femeni midfielder played in a back three in the first leg against South Africa in the 1-0 first leg win.
Waldrum said that Uchiebe played in that system with Benfica and that was why he tried it out in the first leg. He also added that her performance against Thembi Kgatlana was very impressive.
Waldrum said:
“She’s played in a three back you know with Benfica through the Champions League so we knew we could drop her in the back so yes she can certainly solve that problem for us. She was very good tonight against Kgatlana, especially I thought”.
Nigeria’s female team are currently in South Africa for the second leg of their Olympic qualifier. The falcons currently hold a 1-0 lead on aggregate, and will be looking to close out the fixture.
