Ex-international, Waheed Akanni has disclosed that Liberia’s soccer-star-turned-president, George Opong Weah has accepted to be part of the galaxy of stars that will feature in an exhibition match to inaugurate the refurbished Onikan Stadium in Lagos, footballlive.ng reports.
Akanni disclosed that, after meeting Weah personally at the president’s official residence in Monrovia, the former world player of the year said he is excited with the opportunity to join other African soccer stars for the celebration of excellence.
Akanni disclosed further that Weah was excited when he was presented with a customized jersey, that had his legendary No. 14 on it.
He revealed: “President Weah was very happy when we met him for a private breakfast session at his official residence on Thursday morning.
“He’s really excited to be part of the celebration of excellence where other former African stars will also feature.”
