Flying Eagles Land In Lome On Wednesday

Date:

Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles will eventually arrive in Lome, Togo on Wednesday for the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) U-20 Cup of Nations.

Coach Paul Aigbogun’s team will play Benin Republic in their first group match, before a potentially explosive clash with regional Anglophone rivals, Ghana.

Aigbogun’s side are already one day behind schedule, as their plan to travel out of Nigeria on Tuesday was scuttled at the last moment.

Footballive.ng gathered that the team were due to fly out into Lome on Tuesday, but they will now take a road trip from Lagos to the Togolese capital on Wednesday instead.

The original plan had been to fly into Lome from Abuja, but the team will now go by air only as far as Lagos, from where they will go by road, in a trip that should take about seven hours.
