The buzz around Nigeria’s spicy kit may have died down but perhaps this two belting strips made by Umbro for Jamaica deserves some amount of recognition.
The home is in the traditional yellow, green and black colours – with the design on the shoulders and sleeves looking utterly sublime.
For the away kit the colour scheme has been reversed, with black the primary colour, green featuring on the collar and sleeves, and the shorts a vibrant yellow colour this time.
Undoubtedly the most eye-catching feature of the second strip is the special taped pattern on the midriff, which is a direct nod the Caribbean country’s culture.
To further that theme, shots of Jamaican citizens in their usual environments have been included in the photoshoot to promote the new kits.
While it does look a bit like they are wearing the wrong shorts, the jerseys are genuinely utter fire and deserve the same level of hype that Nigeria’s received when they took the world by storm after release.
The kits went on sale today and both will be sported by the team in their next two fixtures – the away getting a debut for the friendly game against Ecuador in New York tonight before the home is worn on home soil for the CONCACAF qualifying fixture with the Cayman Islands.
