Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Ahmed Fresh has declared that the body’s extraordinary congress in Benin City last week was a huge success.
Though critical observers have tagged many of the decisions reached during the congress as unrealistic, Fresh is of a view that fixing new dates for the NFF election and restart of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) were major achievements of the congress.
He also cited the olive branch extended to factional leader, Ambassador Chris Giwa as a humble call for peace and major step towards progress for Nigerian football, hence his verdict that the congress was successful.
With fresh moves now imitated by sports minister, Barrister Solomon Dalung to usher in peace at The Glasshouse, Fresh insists the congress in Benin was very fruitful.
Fresh took to social media to express his progressive views on the expected far-reaching effects of the congress resolutions, which he says should all point towards collective gains for Nigerian football, not individual or personal desires.
He stated: “We had successful @thenff Congress last week in Benin, Edo State. We hope for peace, the progress of football is beyond any individual. Let’s embrace peace and build a football empire.”
