The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a strong warning to clubs regarding the disruption of matches.
League organizers stated that strict penalties will be enforced for any club found guilty of causing match disturbances.
In a statement made in Abuja, Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, reiterated that clubs are responsible for providing adequate security during their home games.
He pointed out that it is the duty of the home teams to ensure the safety of visiting players, officials, and fans throughout the match.
“The home clubs shoulder the burden of ensuring the security of the visiting players, officials, and their fans, prior, during, and after their home matches.”
He further warned that any disruptions, security breaches, or lapses would lead to appropriate sanctions.
“Any team that allow disruptions, breaches, or security lapses under any guise or circumstances will face appropriate sanctions as stipulated in the NPFL rules.”
