The Special Eagles of Nigeria lost 6-2 to Morocco in the semi-final clash of the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations (AAFCON) in Cairo, Egypt.
The Special Eagles had previously defeated Liberia 2-1 in the quarter-finals but struggled against Morocco, as key players Kennedy Ezeji and Michael Jewell were effectively contained by the Moroccans.
Coach Victor Wenwe’s team was outmatched by the superior skills and speed of their North African opponents, who had also eliminated the hosts, Egypt, in the quarter-finals.
Despite the loss, the Special Eagles can find consolation in securing a spot in the 2026 Amputee World Cup, to be held in Morocco.
They will face Algeria in the third-place match, while Morocco will play Ghana in the final on Monday.
