Former Nigerian international, Taribo West has said that the head coach position for the Nigerian national team has a lot of complexities.
He explained that Augustin Eguavoen has a good way around the team, and they play football reminiscent of the glory days, but something goes wrong on competition front for the technical director.
“This question has a lot of complexities. One thing I observed is that Eguavoen has a certain touch that’s different. It’s like he’s taking the team back to those glorious days, the way they play. But my issue is when they go for tournaments, something happens”, he said.
He also stated that Eguavoen is not a bad idea for the permanent run, but he needs grace to overcome the obstacles.
“I think he can be the right coach, but he needs grace. I don’t see why we need to go for a foreign coach when we can invest all that money here. I think the time has come where we must celebrate what God has given us”, said the former defender.
