Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe will be without Wilfred Ndidi owing to an injured ankle.
Prior to Leicester City’s English Championship match against Leeds United, manager Enzo Maresca of the Foxes disclosed that midfielder has a muscle issue.
“Wilf will be out until the international break. It is also a muscular problem.”
“It’s a small thing but when the problem is muscular, even if it’s small, it’s always one week or two weeks because we don’t want to take any risks,” Maresca said on the club’s website.
The injury now means Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro would be forced to explore other options ahead of the next transfer window when they will be playing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
