Roy Hodgson Launches Stinging Attack On Harry The Hornet Over Diving Antics

Date:

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has taken exception to Watford’s mascot.
It’s not the first time Harry the Hornet has been involved in a spat with a manager, after Sam Allardyce also called out the hyperactive bee after Harry mocked Zaha.

Allardyce called on the FA to take action, but football’s governing body declined.

In the latest version of the spat, Roy Hodgson has been irked at Harry the Hornet’s ‘diving’ and joking about Wilfred Zaha, who has quite the reputation for going to ground, especially against Watford at Vicarage Road.
Sky Sports report Hodgson said: “If you’re asking me whether Harry the Hornet, who I presume is the mascot, should dive in that way, I think it’s disgraceful, because that’s not what football matches are about.
“That’s not what football matches are about. If it’s provoking the crowd into looking for something that is not there then it should be stopped.”

Zaha himself seems to at least be able to take Harry the Hornet’s actions as they’re meant – a joke.
The forward has previously posted on social media and has made various jokes about Harry the Hornet’s love of mocking him.
Hodgson may not think it’s funny, but Zaha has just decided to take the high road.
The player of course committed his future to Palace in the summer, after much speculation he could leave, and certainly seems happy at the club.
It was a huge boost for Palace when Zaha decided to stay, and the club will hope to match Zaha’s ambition this season.
