Tuesday morning training had to be put on hold for the Super Eagles, after the players only managed to start arriving in trickles at their camp in Uyo, as they all complained about hitches in catching flights to the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The only ones exempted from the tales of woes over travel difficulties to the camp Uyo, as gathered by footballlive.ng on Tuesday afternoon, were William Troost-Ekong, Daniel Akpeyi and Isaac Success, while Semi Ajayi ‘miraculously’ arrived early on Tuesday.
They were the first batch of players to join the camp on Monday, while all others faced difficulties occasioned by lack of available flights to Uyo.
With the players only managing to trickle into their camp, Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr had to jettison his idea of starting training in the morning, and could only take the lads out for their first session in the evening.
Eagles’ media officer, Toyin Ibiyoye admitted that the players were facing difficulties in connecting direct flights to their camp in Uyo for Saturday’s AFCON qualifier against Libya.
Ibitoye affirmed: “It has been a logistical nightmare for the players to fly directly into Uyo. Seats are not available.
“A player like Akpeyi had to fly to Port Harcourt and then hit Uyo by road as a result of this problem.”
