Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa has drummed support for the Nigeria national amputee team that will be playing at the Amputee World Cup in Mexico from October 17.
Nigeria has been drawn in the same group as Brazil, Russia and El Salvador with the special Eagles billed to play Brazil in her opening game of the tournament.
Meanwhile Players of the Nigerian national football team after their 4 – 0 win over Libya in Uyo donated the sum of N6 million to help the team prepare for the tournament coupled with help from the NFF president Amaju Pinnnick who promised the team the sum of N2.5 million naira and an additional $5, 000 for their efforts.
Aside joining his team mates to contribute to the just cause, captain Ahmed Musa who plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia has called on Nigerians to give support to the team. “We know the condition of he country now but I am going to call on everyone who has the passion and privilege to support them with any amount. Apart from that we have to give them all the support they need, pray for them and wish them the best of luck.
I and my colleagues have done our best but I am sure other well meaning Nigerians will also render help.”
Nigeria is one of the 46 countries currently playing amputee football in the world. The team missed out on the 2010 and 2014 editions due to lack of funds.
