Ighalo’s injury won’t stop Nigeria from winning. NFF Technical Director

Date:

Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Bitrus Bewarang has told footballlive.ng that players of the Super Eagles are ready and will do all it takes to book a spot to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation’s in Cameroon.

The Super Eagles lost to South Africa in the first leg of the tie in Uyo and Bewarang insists it was down to complacency from the lads but the case will be different now. “The players are hungry to go for the nation’s cup so they understand the task ahead. The last time we played against South Africa in Uyo, the boys were complacent.

They thought they had won the match before the game started and they were shocked. This time I think they know better. I’m sure they will do well to get the needed result that will help us qualify for Cameroon. They all want to be at the nation’s cup and they will make that possible.”

In form striker Odion Ighalo will not be available for the game after he picked up an injury in a Chinese Super League match and Bewarang believes his quality and services will be missed. “Definitely we will miss him but that is just football. He has been the one scoring for the team in the last couple of games but I’m confident the boys that have been brought in to replace home will do just fine.”

Nigeria will face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on November 17 at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg. The South African team are billed to resume camp on Sunday November 11.
