Pinnick Admits Tough Women’s World Cup Draw

Date:

The president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick has admitted that Saturday’s draw for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is a tough call for the country’s team, Super Falcons.

Pinnick added that the ‘tough draw’ impressed on the soccer governing body the need for them to give the Falcons an adequate build-up to the competition.

However, footballlive.ng can report further that Pinnick assured that, heading into the Falcons’ first match of France 2019 against Norway on June 8th, the team will get NFF’s total support.

The NFF supremo disclosed that the soccer body has already gone ahead to list the Falcons for participation in two build-up competitions next year, and says more are on the cards.

He stressed that the NFF will give Falcons’ coach, Thomas Dennerby all support and assistance he needs to prepare adequately for the Mundial, as well as ensure the players are put in the right spirit for the tourney.

Pinnick said: “It is a draw that tells us that we have to do everything we can to prepare the team well for the competition. “We have firmed up two tournaments in China and Cyprus for the team, and we are talking with a few countries and organizers for matches and tournaments.

“We will give the head coach and his team the necessary support to prepare the team adequately for the competition.”
