Isaac Success Gets Hargreaves’ Support For Penalty

Date:

Watford of England striker, Isaac Success has gained support from former Manchester United midfielder and England ex-international, Owen Hargreaves over a denied penalty call in action against Everton.

Footballlive.ng reports that Success went down under challenge in the clash on Monday night, which could have been a turning point in the game that eventually ended in a 2-2 draw.

Although opinion is divided over the matter, Hargreaves questioned the decision of the referee, Kevin Friend not to award a penalty to Watford late in the first half of the game at Goodison Park on Monday night, after Success appeared to have been fouled by Yerry Mina.

Success was heading towards goal in the 45th minute but was accosted by Mina and went down under pressure from the Colombian, only for the ref to wave play on.

However, in his reaction as one of the many commentators that felt it should have been a penalty, Hargreaves reckoned that arbiter might have decided to be lenient because Mina was already on a yellow card.

Success, who went off for Nathaniel Chalobah in the 74th minute, had earlier been fouled by the same player in the 55th minute at the edge of the box but Watford’s resultant free kick by Roberto hit the side net.

Hargreaves argued: “Success knew he was touched. He knew it was a foul. Javi Gracia was disappointed by the decision and rightly so.”
