Sunshine Stars gaffer Kabiru Dogo was delighted that his charges managed to keep MFM FC at bay in their Gov Wike Unity Cup semi final clash on Saturday morning.
Goals from Sunday Abe, Dayo Ojo and Tayo Fabiyi fired Stars to a 3-0 victory over the Olukoya Boys at the Sharks Stadium.
“I’ve got to give credit to the boys. It wasn’t an easy game. This is a very good MFM team. In the first half, I think we tried to be a bit more adventurous. I think we created better opportunities when we pressed them a bit high,” Dogo told Footballlive.ng.
“In the second half, we dominated play. We had most of the possession that’s where we did well to keep them out. I think more credit should be given to the defence line for keeping a clean sheet. Ayo Ojo also deserves commendation for the spot kick he saved.”
Dogo impressed by how the players coped with the workload despite the fatigue.
“All we wanted wasn’t to concede, especially in the first half. The fatigue didn’t help either. We just had to cope.”
“So we needed to play them on transition and we had a couple of chances on transition. We had press them hard. I think the performance of the team today was brilliant.”
Sunshine Stars will be up against Rivers United in the final of the Gov Wike Unity Cup at the Sharks Stadium on Saturday evening.
Kick-off is at 5pm.
