Taifa Stars of Tanzania coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has disclosed that he felt very elated with the privilege of hobnobbing once again with the big names and icons of African football in Dakar, Senegal.
Footballlive.ng reports that Amuneke was among the former winners of the continent’s top player’s prize that featured in the first CAF Legends Match, before the 2018 African Footballer of The Year was named.
Amuneke, who won the award in 1994, said he was not only happy to play in the match, but equally delighted with the opportunity to vote in the choice of the 2018 winner, which emerged on Tuesday in Dakar.
After the privilege of voting for this year’s winner, in his position as the coach of Tanzania, Amuneke said he was happy to be in Dakar to reunite with many African soccer icons.
Amuneke stated: “The beauty of this is seeing my ex-team mates, Victor Ikpeba, Kanu are here; to reunite with several of Africa’s legends.
“Also the ones I’ve played against like Alain Gouaméné, Papiss Cissé, a lot of people and ex-players.
“It’s more like a reunion with ex-team mates and ex-national team players to be in Dakar, Senegal. It gladdens my heart.
“It’s a moment of joy for me to be in Senegal as a national team coach of Tanzania to cast my vote for the best African Footballer of the Year.
“I remember the year I won it as a player. Now I am casting my vote as a national team coach, it’s a great moment for me.”
