Stoke City midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo’s coach, Nathan Jones has downplayed the import of The Potters’ drab draw with Wigan Athletic, as the gaffer insists he is still rebuilding the squad.
Etebo played 90 minutes of the away fixture at DW Stadium and, though many pundits declared it a dull match between b oth former English Premier League teams, footballlive.ng can report that Jones is non-pulsed.
The result left Etebo’s side in 17th position on the second-tier table, with The Latics two spots below, but Stoke’s boss is not worried about the chain of events since he took over the reins.
This is in contrast with several post-match reports ab out the game, in which Stoke’s Joe Allen was closest to breaking the deadlock, in a game that neither side pushed for victory but both defended well to warrant shared points in midweek.
However, rather than feel disillusioned with the run of play, Etebo’s coach simply said his squad is work in progress, and he believes things will get better as the days go by.
Etebo’s coach said: “On a normal day we’d be very, very frustrated we haven’t won the game.
“We’re pleased with an away clean sheet, and an away point – that’s the positives for us.
“I thought we had enough chances – and clear-cut chances at that – to have won the game. But we are building, and we are a work in progress.”
