Super Eagles and Bursaspor of Turkey defender Shehu Abdullahi has dedicated his Valentine’s Day to thanking friends, family and fans from around the World for their support all through his playing career which began in Nigeria.
The Nigerian international returned to competitive play after several weeks on the sidelines and insists that having fans sending goodwill messages was instrumental to having him stay strong.
In an emotional message to fans, the Super Eagles defender thanked them for their continued support. “On this special day, I’m extending my love to @BursasporSk fans and my fans in Nigeria from my humble beginnings. Your love & prayers have kept me going higher, I will never take it for granted but cherish them. My teammates and coaches at BursasporSk and at the @NGSuperEagles, I love you all.”
Shehu began his professional career with NPFL side Kano Pillars before moving on to Qadsia in Kuwait and later making a move to Portugal with Unaio de Madeira as his destination and later completing another move to Cyprus with Anorthosis Famagusta where he scored a total of three goals in 48 appearances before moving to Bursaspor.
The Sokoto state born defender has represented Nigeria at the U-20, U-21, U-23, CHAN Eagles and the Super Eagles. Shehu helped Nigeria’s Dream team come third at the 2014 Olympic Games in Brazil.
