Striker Tosin Omoyele had mixed feelings after opening his Nogoom FC goal account with a neat strike in the 2-1 defeat to Al Masry, reports Footballlive.ng.
The January loan capture from Plateau United got off the mark for Nogoom FC in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday night.
But despite breaking his duck the new boy was clearly disappointed.
“The night was bittersweet for me,” he sighed to Footballlive.ng. “And probably more bitter than sweet.
“Obviously it is nice to get up and running with my first goal for Nogoom FC – but I am really disappointed with the end result. We all are.
“Everyone is disappointed because we know we could have won.
“There was a few things said beforehand about how Al Masry only had to turn up to win but we pushed them all the way, had some chance to maybe win it but just couldn’t get over the line.
“But it was a great night. It was great occasion. There was an awesome atmosphere with a big crowd and the fans really helped to push us on. I really enjoyed it.”
The former COD United and Osun United goal machine insists the display proves Nogoom FC could hold their own in the top flight.
“It shows we can compete with big teams,” he continued. “It is getting up that is the pressing matter. We have shown we have the ability and spirit to match the likes of Al Masry. We have to get up first though.
“But that game can help us lift ourselves. If we can keep that intensity up, results will follow.”
Nogoom FC are 17th in the Egyptian Premier League table with 21 points from 24 games and will face Haras El Hodood on the 2nd of March
